A vizitat  Parisul in 1835.

Aivazovsky s-a nascut in orasul Feodosiya (Theodosia), Crimea (Imperiul Rus ) (Ucraina de azi) intro familie armeana saraca.
In timpul  sejurului in Constantinople, Aivazovsky a primit comenzi pentru multe lucrari in calitatea sa de pictor al curtii   Sultanilor otomani Abdülmecid, Abdulaziz si Abdulhamid, 30 din ele fiind in Palatul Imperial otoman, in Muzeul  Dolmabahce si in multe alte muzee din Turcia.
Aivasovsky a murit in Feodosiya in anul 1900.
